Dog Walking on a Sunny Day

Intro

Greetings fellow humans and dogs!

Hi there, I’m Alex. Apologies for the lengthy content but I wanted to take this first issue to introduce myself. I’ve been dog-obsessed since I was a kid. I spent countless hours in the library reading every dog book I could find and studying all the different dog breeds. Over the years, I had a few dogs, but the first dog I could call truly my own came into my life about seven years ago. Enter Sadie.

We’ve been through so much together—moves, career changes, a few breakups, and everything else life could throw our way. Sadie has been my constant, my soul dog. She reflects so much of who I am, and I continue to learn from her every day.

Over the years, I’ve realized that many dog owners, especially new ones, sometimes feel lost or have lingering questions about their dog’s health, training, and behavior. I’ve always been the go-to person for my friends when they need advice on dog issues. Whether it’s training tips, understanding dog psychology, or helping them navigate the sometimes confusing world of dog ownership, I love sharing what I know.

That’s why I decided to start this newsletter. I want to share what I’ve learned with other dog owners like you. From practical health advice to deep dives into dog behavior, my goal is to help you understand your dog better and strengthen the bond you share.

As Sadie has gotten older, I’ve been more focused on her health, especially making sure she’s healthy and happy in her senior years. I’m also navigating the complexities of dog reactivity. After being attacked several times by off-leash dogs, Sadie became reactive, and that has been a major challenge for both of us. I’ve done enormous amounts of research on dog behavior, training, and reactivity, and I’ve worked with multiple trainers to help her. If you’re struggling with similar issues, I hope to share what I’ve learned and offer support.

On top of all that, I’ve witnessed some pretty poor dog ownership habits over the years, and I want to raise awareness about dog owner etiquette as well. It’s our responsibility to make the world a better, safer place for our dogs and others.

In this newsletter, you can expect tips and practical advice covering everything from dog health and training to behavior and etiquette. Sadie and I have been on quite the journey, and I’m excited to share it with you.

Thanks for being here, and I hope you find this newsletter helpful as you navigate your own journey as a dog parent.

Stay tuned for more in the next issue!

Best,
Alex & Sadie 🐾
